21 Oct 08: Death Wish, produced by Nihilonaut's Timo Puolitaipale and directed by Chad Costen, is one of five short films to be selected as a Kick Start 2009 film. The Kick Start program is an initiative by the Directors Guild of Canada, BC, and British Columbia Film, with the participation of Post Modern Sound, Finale Editworks & Sharpe Sound. 23 Aug 08: Nihilonaut is proud to have been asked to provide all script writing services to a joint production among the air force, the Virtual Museum of Canada and Manlab. The project, titled For Valour, will present the stories of seven air force Victoria Cross recipients from WWI & WWII. Nihilonaut will research and write all seven stories with the artwork then provided by Assiniboine Community College, Complex Games and Manlab.

1 Jun 08: Nihilonaut has been hired to serve as producer and training coordinator for an ambitious new project helmed by the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. Titled Digital Nations, this convergence project will combine three series of short films, an online portal and a mobile media capability. The project is scheduled to launch in Sep 09 in time for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

The training component involves identifying junior professionals from the Aboriginal community who are poised to make a leap forward into new media. In addition to working as paid interns on Digital Nations, these interns will also receive advanced bootcamp training in new media during two intensive workshops at the Banff New Media Institute that Nihilonaut will be coordinating.

26 May 08: Phase 1 of NSI playWRITE has concluded after an intensive work-saturated bootcamp in Vancouver. Ryan had the fortune to be part of an ad hoc group selected to advance and pitch their game, MarbleBlanca, before the Vidfest Pitch 'n' Play audience. Phase 2, independent work-study on the NWN Aurora Toolset, begins immediately.

9 May 08: Nihilonaut president & CEO Ryan FitzGerald has been selected as one of the ten winners of the inaugural NSI playWRITE program.

8 Feb 08: Nihilonaut Productions has been invited to Vancouver to participate in the Fusion Digital Media Venture Forum as one of ten early-stage companies pitching interested investors as part of the Rapid Fire Rave series.
